WIRM Factory

This was an entry to an international design competition with Eleven Magazine to propose ways to address the massive plastics problem in the oceans. I received an honorable mention. W.I.R.M. Factory, Waste Integration and Research Management Factory, is a zero net energy, self-sustaining, floating laboratory that studies methods to accelerate the biodegradation of plastic in Earth’s oceans. When deployed in the most polluted regions, such as The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, W.I.R.M. Factory focuses on ways to decrease the millions of tons of plastic polluting our oceans.
